The Valley Isle

Maui, Hawaii

#1

Known by the Locals as “Maui - No Ka Oi” - Meaning the “Very Best” of all the Hawaiian Islands

Maui, known as The Valley Isle, is a breathtaking island paradise renowned for its stunning landscapes, pristine beaches, and rich Hawaiian culture. From the world-famous Road to Hana and Haleakalā National Park to the luxurious resorts of Wailea and the historic charm of small towns like Makawao and Paia, Maui offers a unique blend of natural beauty and cultural heritage.

The island presents an abundance of opportunities for adventure and relaxation—whether it’s snorkeling in Molokini Crater, whale watching in winter, or enjoying the lush scenery of Iao Valley. Maui’s thriving tourism industry provides substantial financial opportunities in hospitality, real estate, and sustainable ventures, making it a prime destination for investment and entrepreneurship. With its perfect balance of modern amenities and untouched beauty, Maui is not just a travel destination but a gateway to a dream lifestyle.

Embrace the Maui Lifestyle

Hōkūnui's ideal location on Maui offers close proximity to the island’s top schools and wealth of activities, both active and urban. The community is tucked into the temperate hills of Upcountry Maui minutes from the charming town of Makawao.

Within minutes, be on a hike in the nearby Makawao Forest Reserve, or simply explore the neighborhood’s private trail network, traversing peaceful pastures and flourishing forests. Maui’s pristine North Shore has some of the world’s most beloved beaches only fifteen minutes away.

Makawao, Maui

Located on the mid-slopes of Maui’s Haleakala volcano, Makawao has one foot in its plantation past and another in its thriving arts community. This charming town was once named one of the top 25 arts destinations in the United States. Makawao is the biggest little town in the region locally known as Upcountry Maui and is famous for its Hawaiian cowboys, or paniolo. Since the late 19th century, horseback-riding paniolo have wrangled cattle in Maui’s wide-open upland fields.

Understanding ‘Aina

In the Hawaiian language, “‘Aina” translates directly to “the land,” or “the island,” but it means so much more. Aina doesn’t have an English equivalent, but it’s taken to mean the entirety of the land and its people — and how we take care of all that inhabit it. Just as we trust Aina to take care of us, the island trusts us to take care of it. Taking that a step further, “Aloha ‘Aina [love of the land]” is the foundation of Hōkūnui. This includes the forest, the pastures, the ocean, the water, and the earth. ‘Aina is the source that sustains us, and at Hōkūnui Maui, we consider nurturing nature (and vice versa) a lifestyle. This is why we strive every day to leave this place of unsurpassed beauty and bounty in a better state than the way in which we found it.
